Trials End vineyard

30 miles north of the Campovida estate in Hopland lies one of Mendocino County's most celebrated AVA's, Potter Valley, wherein sits the Trails End Vineyard. Home to varietals like Syrah, Grenache Noir, and Grenache Blanc, the certified organic Trails End Vineyard sits at close to 1000 feet of elevation near where the Eel River is diverted into the headwaters of the eastern fork of the Russian River. Here in this cooler micro-climate, the clay loam soil provides a fertile ground for roots to take hold and allow for the fruit to develop  without too much sugar - producing wines with less alcohol but more flavor and aromatics. Diurnal temperatures also contribute greatly to the fruit development, where mid-day in summer this inland valley can be truly hot with nighttime temperatures that plummet.
