The Oppenlander Vineyard sits in the small town of Comptche. This cooler micro-climate just north of Anderson Valley and only 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean is an ideal area for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir similar to those of Burgundy. Fifth generation owners Bill & Norman Shandell planted 20 acres Dijon Pinot Noir clones into the gravelly clay soil, and have since then produced fruit that has gone into many award winning wines.
