Owned by John Chiarito, a second generation Italian-American, the Chiarito Vineyard is head-pruned, dry-farmed, and maintained in a very unique and old style method of farming consisting of plowing and cross cultivating; allowing the grapes to maximize the expression of the soil. 12 miles north of Hopland and slightly east of Ukiah on a bed of Pinole gravelly loam, the vineyards are mainly devoted to Negroamaro, Nero d'Avola, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel.
