details matter - pruning for 2018

a winemaker's note - grape to glass
"over the last few weeks, while we are still in winter and the vines are dormant, we have been prepping and pruning our estate campo dos robles vineyard where we grow our viognier. this vineyard was planted in 1995 and is getting closed to being "old vine" for white grape varietals; and it is CCOF certified organic, so to prep for pruning we unleash a gang of sheep to help mow down the native weed population and remove unwanted growth. the sheep are then removed and we begin pruning the vineyard. being able to get this done in between rain spells is hopefully a good omen for the 2018 growing season!" - adam johnson, winemaker
