Vineyard

Viognier is a white grape believed to have originated in present day Croatia before making its way to the Rhone region of France, where it can be found as a stand-alone wine or often blended with Marsanne and Roussane. Our Viognier comes from the “Campo dos Robles” (field of two oaks) Vineyard, located at Campovida. The CCOF Certified vineyard is located in the town of Hopland along the banks of the upper Russian River. The site’s river-bed gravelly loam soil provides an ideal site for growing world-class Rhone white wines.

Harvest notes

The 2014 harvest season followed the same pattern of excellent quality as the 2013 vintage. Winter brought with itself a vast amount of rain, followed by one of the driest springs and summers in a long time. Harvest commenced about two weeks earlier than average allowing for all grapes to be picked before the arrival of rain. In summary, 2013 was another amazing vintage, providing all elements to make outstanding wines with mature tannins, flavors and aromas that truly show a sense of place.

Winemaker’s notes

The nose shows tropical aromas of guava, quince jam, and dried apricot with hints of magnolia in the background. The mouth is very well balanced showing roundness and softness, followed by an uplifting crisp and mineral finish.
