2013 Campo di Blanca

2013 Campo di Blanca

Campo dos Robles (field of two oaks) Vineyard is Campovida’s estate Viognier block which is CCOF organic certified. The Bonofiglio Vineyeard is an organically farmed, seven-acre vineyard located five miles north of the town of Hopland. Both vineyard sites are located along the banks of the upper Russian River, where the gravelly loam soils provide ideal sites for growing worldclass Rhone white wines.

Harvest notes

The 2013 harvest season followed the same pattern of excellent quality as the 2012 vintage. Winter brought with itself a vast amount of rain, followed by one of the driest springs and summers in a long time. Harvest commenced about two weeks earlier than average allowing for all grapes to be picked before the arrival of rain. In summary, 2013 was another amazing vintage, providing all elements to make outstanding wines with mature tannins and flavors and aromas that truly show a sense of place.

Winemaker’s notes

A very complex nose with hints of delicate floral components from both the Marsanne and Roussanne, while the Viognier contributes notes of ginger and apricot. On the mouth, the Marsanne is the backbone of the blend, contributing weight and roundness while the Viognier adds a touch of acidity that helps balance out the final blend.
